RETURN TO HONDURAS
Sula and its surrounding communities are in an economically depressed region. Many of the people struggle to provide food for their families. They cannot afford medical or dental care. Some of the children don't even own a toothbrush. It is our hope that by offering dental care and educating them about the importance of oral hygiene, we can make a difference in their lives. By improving their dental health we can improve their overall health. But more than that, providing compassionate help can give them hope. You can make a difference.
In September 2022, we returned to Honduras after a long pause due to Covid. It was a slow start but overall the mission was a huge success. We were fortunate that four Honduran dentists joined with our American team by volunteering their time to work in the clinic. Thank you Dr. Armando, Dr. Veronica, Dr. Maritza and Dr. Susanna! We visited two schools to provide dental hygiene instruction and apply fluoride to over 250 children.
We would love to have you join our team. Our next mission is July 15-22. We are looking for dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, and general volunteers. There is something for everyone. Going on a mission trip will change your life. You will be exposed to a way of life much different than your own. For many it is their first contact with people living in extreme poverty. The faith and strength of the Honduran people will humble and move you. You will likely work harder than you ever have. You may have to learn new ways to do things out of necessity. If you keep your heart open, you will grow in ways you can't imagine. Your compassion will grow, your feeling of responsibility will grow, and your gratitude will grow. You will be blessed.
